Marketing Across the Middle East: What to Localize Before Launch

Choose a country and customer journey before choosing a regional campaign.

Replace a regional assumption with a country brief

The Middle East is a broad regional label. A campaign needs a more specific brief: where can you operate, who are you trying to reach and which services or products are available to them? Start with the intended country and customer segment. Do not reuse another market’s audience settings, commercial terms or offer without checking whether they fit.

Plan the whole language journey

If Arabic and English are both required, define the role of each version and who approves it. Page direction, typography, form labels, search phrasing and follow-up need attention alongside body copy. Language production should include an appropriately qualified reviewer. A business should not imply bilingual service capacity unless it can actually support the resulting conversations.

Give creative a clear approval owner

A campaign launch can stall when nobody is responsible for checking local terminology or current offers. Agree on reviewers, turnaround time and escalation before production starts. Build enough flexibility to update scheduling or promotional messages when the business needs change. Market-specific legal questions belong with suitable local advisers.

Test the handoff as carefully as the ad

Submit a test enquiry from the intended customer journey and follow what happens next. Is the form understandable? Does the response arrive in the expected language? Does someone know which country and offer the person selected? These checks help reveal operational gaps that campaign dashboards cannot resolve. Expand only when the journey can support additional demand.

A useful first exercise

Write a one-page brief containing the target audience, the offer, the next customer action, the person responsible for responding and the evidence you will review. If those five items are unclear, resolve them before adding channels or countries.

Start with the smallest channel mix that can answer your business question and that your team can support. Add complexity when there is a clear reason and sufficient operational capacity.

No. It makes priorities and assumptions explicit. Outcomes depend on the offer, competition, implementation and other factors, so review what the evidence supports.
